Destination: Some Place Else

…to get away for if only a moment

the intro bit

Everyone's a dreamer

Everyone is a dreamer at some stage….

“I’ve tried that. I’ve tried aspirin, too. Rusty thinks I should smoke marijuana, and I did for a while, but it only makes me giggle. What I’ve found does the most good is just to get into a taxi and go to Tiffany’s. It calms me down right away, the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there, not with those kind men in their nice suits, and that lovely smell of silver and alligator wallets. If I could find a real-life place that made me feel like Tiffany’s, then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name.”
― Truman CapoteBreakfast at Tiffany’s

I think it’s safe to say that from time to time we all like to escape from the shackles of work, home life or whatever it is that might be causing you stress.  If you’re Holly Golightly then you go to Tiffanys and marvel at the diamonds; or if you’re like me you might choose to go someplace else.

Some people might travel to a destination far away and drink tequila sunrises in a pool bar or others might have a coffee at the local café and imagine they’re in that pool bar.  A long walk on your own, stretching out your limbs in yoga or maybe you just want to get so pissed, you forget.  Sometimes I whack on my headphones, turn up the volume and listen to that song that makes me feel sad, bad, happy or glad.  I could read a really inspiring book or watch a crap rom com, I could go swimming and think of nothing.  I might just be silent and still, go inward and meditate.  Last night I went dancing at No Lights, No Lycra (will get to this) so that I know my body is alive and just because I do like a good bootie shake.  We all have our vehicle, it’s just everyone drives it differently.  Yes, it is essential to be present in life, to appreciate the individual moments as they pass so quickly and are often the most important. I choose to enjoy nearly every day (I am human and sometimes have my shit days too) and be positive and love my friends and family and be grateful for all I have been given.  But I’m not going to lie; it’s officially known that I am dreamer.   I like to imagine different worlds in writing, or sometimes just space out just cause.  But that’s ok as long as I participate in life actively too.  I also like to dream big, as with that comes experience and with experiences comes a pretty spectacular life.

So with that introduction, I attempt to write my first blog.  I intend to write about places I go to escape and do something just for me.  Sometimes this is on my own or sometimes with my loved ones.  Maybe you might find it interesting; maybe you’ll think its verbal diarrhea.  For me, life is always busy, but that’s because I want to live it and not take a backseat like I did once.  As they say you never know how long you have so make it worth it. But I also believe it is so crucial to your well being to make time for yourself and I hope those who read this will be inspired to do just that.  You never know –you might find out you’re a pretty decent date.

Thanks, Liv Shore
